Janice Crowl is a freelance writer and a master gardener with the Hawai‘i Island Master
Gardener Association, University of Hawai‘i at Manoa Cooperative Extension Service. She has a
certificate in Landscape Horticulture from Merritt College in Oakland, California, and a bachelor of arts degree
