It's not a joke that Augie T. is Hawaii's most in demand comedian and he's making people laugh all over–on radio, T.V., movies, stage/stand-up, and on his latest CD “Locally Disturbed.” Comedian and radio personality Augie Tulba, has made a career out of making people laugh and laughing at himself.
He has spent the past nine years working hard in the Hawaii comedy circuit. He has toured the Mainland, Guam and the Pacific Islands. He's also appeared on T.V. shows like Friday Night Videos, MTV's Real World, Baywatch Hawaii and the number one watched T.V. show in Hawaii right now, Jan Ken Po. He hosts a morning radio show with his partner, Lanai, on Island Rhythms 98.5. In 1998 Augie produced “Da Comedy Kahuna” CD and in 1999 it won the Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Comedy Album.
“Locally Disturbed” highlights what Augie does best, being a standup comedian. Part of this CD was taped live-in-concert from his weekly performances at the Comedy Shack and part is a take off of his radio
D.J. antics. Augie wrote and sang the lyrics on the song “Poking Squid”, featuring the popular band, Koa‘uka and rapper, Max
EFX. His versatility as a comic runs the whole range of “hysterics” from his making crank calls to his debut Las Vegas performance on the Perry ‘N Price KSSK show and to his attempt to break the language barriers and prove pidgin can be used by every one on his “Pigeon is Easy” cuts.
The funny thing about Augie is that he used to be a professional fighter and now he’s knocking people out with his humor. This CD really packs a punch to the funny bone. No wonder, in 2002 he was named the Comedian of the Year by Mid Week and The Honolulu Star Bulletin. |
