At
a time when musicians are experimenting with the traditional
Hawaiian music form, Kawai Cockett remains true to his native
roots. He sings and chants in the way his kumu (teachers) taught
him; he lives simply, as did his na kupuna (ancestors); he
speaks with love (aloha) and humility (ha`aha`a). He talks the
talk and walks the walk -- he is a traditional Hawaiian.
