It has been more than thirty years since the initial publication of Cook Japanese Hawaiian Style, following the popular
television cooking show by the same name. The original cookbook has been out of print for more than twenty-five years, however
(and thankfully), author Muriel Miura’s daughter encouraged her to revise and reprint this book for her grandchildren, who represent
the next generation. It is her wish that this book will make a small contribution towards the preservation of the legacy of Japanese
cooking in Hawaii.
This revised edition of Cook Japanese Hawaiian Style, designed for both the beginner and advanced cook, is a compilation
of Muriel’s many family recipes. You’ll find traditional, centuries-old recipes which have been updated and "Westernized"
to meet today’s tastes. Additionally, contemporary food ideas, which are unique as well as delicious, are included to provide a rich
source of pleasurable dining more suited for today’s audience and lifestyle. The directions for each recipe is are simply written and
most ingredients are available in the Asian or Oriental foods section of any market. Includes a glossary of Japanese terms and handy
nutritional value chart.
