Synopsis
:

Little World, A Book About Tolerance is a whimsical and touching look at accepting diversity and creating unity. Author and illustrator, Joanna F. Carolan, has written this book in a charming poetic style. She  takes us on a journey across a "little world spinning in a great big sky" starting in the land of the square people.

From there, we are introduced to triangular, round, and rectangular people and places. The people from each of these lands are certain their way is the best. When the different people meet, they are faced with important questions:

  • Can we accept our differences?

  • Can we live together peacefully?

This book offers heartfelt ways to create a better world. Adults as well as children will enjoy its simple wisdom and the bold illustrations created by Joanna F. Carolan, a well known Hawaii artist.

This book can help parents and teachers stimulate creative thinking, introduce concepts about accepting diversity and ways of fostering cooperation.

Little World was a Benjamin Franklin award finalist.  The silver medallion shown on the left is on the book cover. The Benjamin Franklin awards are given by the Publisher's Marketing Association. The category that Little World was chosen for is the poetry category.
