Keala Records presents Volume 2-HAWAIIAN STEEL. It is a steel guitar instrumental CD featuring Hawaii’s foremost steel guitar instrumentalists: Alan Akaka, Bobby Ingano, Casey Olsen and Greg Sardinha. These are Hawaii’s favorite recording artists who have steel guitar credits on most of Hawaii’s notable artists’ CD projects. ALAN AKAKA who regularly performs at the Halekulani with his group, The Islanders, also performs with Genoa Keawe. He has recorded with legends of the likes of Jerry Byrd, Barney Isaacs (Island Calls) and Benny Kalama. Alan performs “In A Little Hula Heaven”, “Honolulu Eyes” and “Hilo March”. BOBBY INGANO, who has his own solo instrumental CD, has also recorded with many Hawaii artists including the Hoopii Brothers, Palolo, Kanilau, Amy & Willie K., Martin Pahinui, and most recently, Teresa Bright, to name a few. Bobby performs his original “Beauty & Harmony”, “Ua Like No A Like” and “Tropical Swing”. CASEY OLSEN performs at the Halekulani’s “House Without A Key” with his father’s group, “The Hiram Olsen Trio”. His recording credits include projects with artists such as Hapa, Pai’ea, Na Leo, Robi Kahakalau, Cindy Combs, Minoaka and most recently with Kawai Cockett. Casey performs a medley entitled “Ho’oluwana, E Huli Ho’I Mai, Pua Rose”, “My Rose of Waikiki” and “Black & White Rag”. GREG SARDINHA, along with his group “Po’okela” regularly performs at various Waikiki and local venues. His recording credits include his own CD entitled “Moonlight Melodies of Waikiki” (Pookela) and projects with veterans of the likes of Cyril Pahinui, Karen Keawehawaii, Herb Ota Sr., Kuuipo Kumukahi, Na Leo. He has also recorded with Sean Naau’ao, Darren Benitez, Herb Ota, Jr., Elua Kane, Sam Keliihoomalu and Weldon Kekauhoa among others! Greg Sardinha has also produced the Hawaiian Steel I and II. Greg performs “On A Little Bamboo Bridge”, “Kewalo Chimes” and “The Night You Said Aloha To Me”. These 4 players along with back-up musicians, Hiram Olsen, Dennis Keohokalole and Rick Rickard, came together on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to record Hawaiian Steel Volume 2. There are only a handful of steel guitarists in Hawaii today. It is ironic because the Hawaiian Steel Guitar is the only instrument indigenous to Hawaii. These 4 players, Alan, Bobby, Casey and Greg, love playing the instrument and are committed to perpetuating The Hawaiian Steel Guitar for many generations to come! We hope you enjoy HAWAIIAN STEEL –VOLUME 2.
