Hawaii’s sweethearts, Lei Melket and Mailani
Makainai of Keahiwai, have done it again.
Their latest recording, CHANGING, is their 7th
recording to date and is guaranteed to please audiences as they
always have. Are they CHANGING? Why of course, but only for the
better.
A little older in age and a little wiser in songwriting,
Keahiwai gently surprises fans with every album while
maintaining the signature sound that caught our attention in the
first place. Lei and Mailani are responsible for some of
Hawaii’s biggest radio hits such as "Over," "Falling," "I Found
You," and "Dangerous." CHANGING features
similar types of original songs that are addictive and easy to
sing along with, while making the listener "think" a bit about
the true message and meaning behind the melodies and harmonies.
Have you ever been a matchmaker? If so, a song like "Cupid" will
instantly stick in your head and get under your skin. The title
track, "Changing," puts you in a good mood with its jubilant
beat, yet discusses the constant evolving of a relationship.
Keahiwai, along with producer, Aaron Kimura, have a
unique gift that causes their music to touch people of all ages
and walks of life. Lei and Mailani are certainly more admired
than most by youngsters and adults. There is an innocence in
their voices that attracts young boys and girls. Yet, their
lyrics also say to those who are a little older, "I understand
what you’re going through. Here’s my story…"
We often hope the things we like never change. However, Keahiwai
proves over and over again that evolving is why we love them so
