About the CD
Savor the holidays with this first ever Christmas CD by the world famous Royal Hawaiian Band. This recording
is a collection of timeless classics such as "O Holy Night" and "Jingle Bells" sung in both English and Hawaiian.
These songs are done in a wide variety of styles ranging from traditional to big band to 70’s pop to contemporary. Guest artists
reflect that same wide range from the Classic Hawaiian voices of Nina Kealiiwahamana and Iwalani Kahalewae
to the Contemporary sounds of the Award winning vocal group Pali, then to the Jazz stylings of trumpeter Eric
Miyashiro. Mayor Mufi Hanneman shows he's more than a political trail blazer as he becomes the first Honolulu
Mayor to record with the Royal Hawaiian Band. He performs with the local favorites Pali on "Do You Hear What I Hear" and
delivers an original tune, "Christmas Time Again, Aloha" with his brother Nephi Hannemann and artist
Iva Kinimaka.
This season compilation shows the versatility of the official band of the City and County of Honolulu distinguished as the oldest existing
full-time municipal band. Royal Hawaiian Band founded in 1839 by King Kamehameha III is also the only band in the United States of America
established by a royal kingdom.
