Daniel Ho is setting the pace again for music with Finding My Way, which is the 16th album released by this multi Na Hoku Hanohano award winner. Finding My Way is the first local alternative album produced by Ho, who has experimented with a variety of music styles including pop, smooth jazz, slack key and contemporary Hawaiian music.
This new 12-song album features local artists including Lina-Girl Langi of “Local Kine Grindz” fame and Jake Shimabukuro of “Pure Heart” & “Còlòn”. It also marks the singing debuts of Andrea Gomez-Tukuafu, former University of Hawai`i Wahine volleyball standout, Siena Lee, and Sachi Sato. Both Lee and Sato co-wrote several songs with Ho on Finding My Way.
“Finding My Way combines a tremendous blend of talented individuals with poignant songs that reflect experiences we have lived or are living,” explains Ho. “As a result, everyone who listens to this album will hear a song they can personally relate to.”
The CD features the 2001 Na Hoku Hanohano ‘Song of the Year’ Saving Forever, which was co-produced with Lehua Kalima of “Na Leo Pilimehana”. In addition, a special version of the local favorite Along for the Ride features Lina Girl on lead vocals with the rest of the cast singing back-up and Jake performing a special ukulele solo. Also, Andrea Gomez-Tukuafu stirs up some inner emotions and displays great prowess with “Stronger & Stronger” as it tells the tale of a determined soul who defies the odds.
Daniel Ho has produced, arranged, composed, engineered, and/or performed on 48 records ranging from pop, to smooth jazz, to contemporary Hawaiian music over his 11-year career. From 1990 to 1997, Ho was the leader, keyboardist, producer, and composer for “Kilauea”, a contemporary jazz group. Ho has performed throughout the U.S., Mexico, Japan, and Germany.
Daniel Ho mixes together island rhythms with mainstream contemporary sound. The result is Finding My Way. Whether you are a hopeless romantic or a determined soul, these songs are sure to find their way to your heart. |
