As human beings we are because of many things. We have life because our parents shared in our creation. We grow because our family nurtures us. We have joy because of the friends in our lives. We thrive because people and places have given meaning to our existence. We have knowledge because of the numerous teachers who have taken time with us. All of these things have a hand in who we are.
Nälei is a reminder of all of these things. Like a lei, many experiences and emotions are strung together to make a life filled with beauty, delight, sorrow, and love. Like a lei, woven together are the many and diverse occasions that have brought fulfillment to the soul. Like a lei, we are all joined together in some manner or form. All of these are brought together to create a complete life indeed.
