Peter Apo & Del Beazley - biography
When vocalists Peter Apo and Del Beazley joined together to record an album of Apo's compositions in 1989, they had no idea they would be so
successful that they would continue their collaboration for a decade. Meeting when both worked as paddlers at the Ka Moi Canoe Club in Waianae,
Apo and Beazley were soon jamming regularly at Apo's home. Their self-titled debut album received a prestigious Na Hoku Hano award for Most
Promising Artist. Both Apo and Beazley had enjoyed success as soloists before agreeing to pool their talents. A dedicated Hawaiian nationalist,
Apo was serving as a state representative when he recorded his debut album Hawaiian Nation: A Call for Hawaiian Sovereignty in 1990. Beazley's
debut solo album, One for Akua, was named Best Religious Album the same year. Apo and Beazley continued working together until 1999, when they
released the greatest-hits album The Best of Apo and Beazley combining duo and solo recordings. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
