Ho'aikane - biography
Ho’aikane is: Walter Tavares on Vocals/Ukulele; Hoku Tolentino on Vocals/Lead Guitar; Jamieson Wong on Vocals/Bass Guitar; Nolan Hao on Vocals/Acoustic
Guitar and Jamin Wong on Rap/Vocals/Drums/Percussion.
Ho’aikane warns their listeners ... "THE BEAT IS HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS AND THERE IS NO CURE!"
AFTER 5 YEARS, Ho’aikane releases its 10th album on March 6th, 2001. Entitled Ho’aikane Live ..... THE LAST SET ..... it was recorded live at Fast Eddies
Night Club in Kailua on Oahu’s Windward side in March 1992, some nine years ago. It is the last set of a 2 night live recording session by the premier
contemporary Hawaiian / Reggae group of the decade.
The first half of these recordings were released in 1992 and named “Ho’aikane ... Live”. That album went on to garner universal acclaim in both Hawaii and
the mainland. That release, eventually went on to sell more than 50,000 units and become a staple of every complete collection of contemporary Hawaiian
music.
Fast Eddies is now a parking lot, and sometimes nothing ever seems to get better with age, here in Hawaii. These live sessions are an exception, they have
aged well. Recording by master island engineer, Jim Linkner and mixed and mastered by Rick Keefer at Sea West Studios in Pahoa ... they are an extraordinary
example of Ho’aikane at its best.
"THE LAST SET" is 11 cuts ... over an hour of musical treasures, guaranteed to be an instant classic.
