PULE WAILELE (Waterfall Prayer) is a documentary film that takes viewers to Hawai‘i’s
beautiful rain forests and natural settings and introduces them to Hawaiians who are reconnecting with their culture
through reconnection to the land and the beautiful natural environment.
Film maker John Kalani Zak talks story with Lawrence Aki and Pilipo Solatorio of Halawa Valley on
Moloka‘i, and with Hawaiian healing practitioners Alan Alapai, Butch Richards, Papa "K" Kepilino, and
Brenda Ignacio about the precious land and water of Hawai‘i.
Viewers will meet Kawika Winter, director of Limahuli Garden on Kaua‘i who will discuss Hawai‘i’s endangered
species and ongoing efforts to bring the land and the people of this ancient ahupua‘a back to vibrant health. PULE
WAILELE will also immerse viewers in the breathtaking beauty of the rain forest accompanied by the prayerful voice of
recording artist, Makana.
