Readers are taken on a guessing-game tour of tide pool residents, from the ‘opihi (a limpet) to the ha‘ue‘ue (pencil urchin). Fully illustrated, this book depicts sea creatures in abstract close up and then allows young readers to identify them on the next page. This bilingual “flip” book tells the same story in English and in ‘olelo Hawa‘i.
This story was written and illustrated by students of Kanu o ka ‘Aina New Century Public Charter School, located in rural Waimea in the Kohala district of Hawai‘i Island. Originally printed in 2005, this revised edition also features an updated cover design.
